CASCADE has been building home swimming pools for New Zealand families since 1971, when our Founder Director, Laurence E. (Larry) Ogden, returned from six years OE which included additional structural engineering experience - but now including the design and construction of residential swimming pools, which in those days were quite uncommon in New Zealand.

After years working in the UK, Europe and East Coast USA for Cascade Industries Inc.
based in Edison New Jersey, Larry and his English business partner Robert Rankin Smith came to New Zealand on vacation, and on request from an old Kiwi friend in early Summer 1971 they built their first locally sourced US-Style Cascade pool in New Zealand. It was so successful, that an Advert in the local Newspaper resulted in literally scores of site requests ... and 80 pool sales!

Larry realised that the "Fresh" New Zealand Market for home pools was not being delivered by any other dedicated home pool company - so on the 11th February 1972 he established the first NZ Home Swimming Pool Kit distribution company, Cascade Industries (NZ) Limited.

Cascade appointed Franchise Dealers all over the North and South Islands of New Zealand and the Pacific Islands - thus instigating the previously uncommon Home Swimming Pool in New Zealand.

In 1973, Cascade installed 160 home pools, and 1974 350 pools were installed. It was the start of the Pool Industry in New Zealand, lead by Cascade who sold around 350 pools installed annually for the following 20 years!

By 2024, many years in business for Cascade Pools New Zealand, our 53 year overall pool sales and refurbs (refreshing earlier built pools) total more than 25,000 pools!

Cascade is still here in the In the 21st Century, and we are a third-generation family business
with Agents that will build pools in most New Zealand urban and suburban areas, including the Pacific Islands as required.

These days, we use 21st Century MBIE Approved Foam Installation designs to trap and contain the FREE Solar Heat from the sun - creating a "Solar Heated Pool" you might say ...
